Location-based Social Marketing
Foursquare
Foursquare is a location-based social network that can be used by businesses to promote themselves to people in their vicinity. Customers can check-in to qualify for discounts, and compete to become “Mayor” of a business if they check-in the most at a particular venue.
It has Facebook and Twitter integration that lets users share every check-in with their social connections. Every time users check–in at a venue, they can leave tips and reviews for friends which promotes social discovery.
Businesses can offer incentives to check-in with rewards and discounts. This is particularly useful for retailers to drive in-store foot traffic and other types of businesses to raise awareness.
Facebook Places
Facebook Places has a similar concept to Foursquare and the check-in is done through the user’s Facebook account. This is published to the user’s feed which displays the name of the venue, it’s Places page and a photo if the user takes one. The user can also tag other friends at the venue, which is displayed on their feeds as well. This multiplies your presence on users’ newsfeeds.
Facebook Places also gives businesses the opportunity to offer Deals to encourage users to check-in. You can offer discounts, group deals, donate to charity and create loyalty programs (e.g. discount after every 5th check-in).
Blackglass can incorporate location-based social media marketing into your overall social strategy if it is relevant to your business. We can:
- Create locations or claim and optimise them on your behalf if they have already been created by users.
- Create Specials and/or Deals for your venues
- Track results, impact on goals and online buzz.
